I am faced with the following average question from a testbook...can u help me?
"The average of 11 games is 50. The average of the first 6 is 49, and the last 6 is 52.

Cheers
Another approach would be to plug in the answer choices, one of which would say that the result of the 6th game was 56.
Sum of all 11 games = (number of games)*(average) = 11*50 = 550.
Sum of first 6 games = (number of games)*(average) = 6*49 = 294
Thus, sum of first 5 games = 294 - 6th game = 294-56 = 238.
Sum of last 6 games = (number of games)*(average) = 6*52 = 312
Thus, sum of last 5 games = 312 - 6th game = 312-56 = 256.
Sum of all 11 games = sum of first 5 games + 6th game + sum of last 5 games = 238 + 56 + 256 = 550. Success!
