HOW TO STUDY VERBAL SECTION

I wish to share some of my thoughts

I see that and Kaplan verbal workbook also said that the key to success on entire verbal section is reading skill. if we can not read well we can not do CR or SC. We do not need to study very hard CR and SC problem to get good score (>600).

I see that we and I study SC and CR too much. We discuss hard problems and even the problems which are not from good sources. We should focus on questions from OG, which are good, basic and also hard enough.

We even do not need to study book Critical Reasoning Bible because CR test many kinds of logic. good reading skill permit you to perform well on CR without studying very hard CR.

I, and, I think, non native speakers, fail the test because our reading skill is weak. TOEFL 600 dose not give non native speaker good enough reading skill. Many non native speakers get over 600 easily just because their reading skill is good. They do not need to study very hard SC and CR problems.

what is good reading skill. after you read a paragraph or 3-4 sentenced, you should stop to summarize the text you have just read before you continue to read. We do not need to write down the notes(as Mr. Gin told us to do so) because this process distract us. You need to summarize in your head with simple words. This summary help you remember the idea you have just read and be able to read and understand the next paragraph. Pls, read KAPLAN VERBAL WORKBOOK for this skill. Mr.Gin who get high score and tell us to write down notes. This dose not work for every one.

in conclusion, I want to said that we should focus on reading skill (practice reading passages more) and study only the SC and CR from good sources. OG questions should be understood properly. Stacey never explain a question for us if she do not know the source of the question.
