Hi All,
I did a search to find answer to this DS problem but failed.
Please have a look and let me know how can be Statement 1/'A' be the correct choice.

A transversal is a line that connects 2 parallel lines.
If 2 transversals make the same angle with the parallel lines, then the lengths of the transversals are the same. The smaller angle will have the larger transversal.

A great analogy would be the following:

Imagine that a boat is trying to cross the parallel banks of the River Ganges. The boat's trajectory is your transversal.

Which angle (made with the bank of course) gives us the shortest route???
90 degrees...or straight ahead, would be the shortest route.

Now if a different boat went on a 60 degree trajectory, it would have to travel a longer distance to reach the other bank.

Hence, Statement I is sufficient to answer the given question.
For love, not money.

The difference between the angles x, and y is the key as Musiq showed. The second statement is irrelevant because it does not show the relationship between the two angles, but the first statement does.
