pls help me with this

Q27:
The sum of positive integers x and y is 77. What is the value of xy?
(1) x = y + 1
(2) x and y have the same tens digit.

how to root out choices?
Please share your idea and your reasoning :D

x + y = 77 We also know that x = y + 1

So y = 38 and x = 37 ...Hence Sufficient

From 2 also it says the same thing that the tens digit are same ..hence there can be no other possibility other than 38 37

The numbers are 38 and 39, but your reasoning and answers are correct. 38 and 37 add up to 76, which is also obtainable by adding 39 and 37, but since we're after 77 only 39 and 38 will do.
