At a certain university, if 50 percent of the people who inquire about admission policies actually submit applications for admission, what percent of those who submit applications for admission enroll in classes at the university?
(1) Fifteen percent of those who submit applications for admission are accepted at the university.
(2) Eighty percent of those who are accepted send a deposit to the university.

. On a certain day it took Bill three times as long to drive from home to work as it took Sue to drive from home to work. How many kilometers did Bill drive from home to work?
(1) Sue drove 10 kilometers from home to work, and the ratio of distance driven from home to work time to drive from home to work was the same for Bill and Sue that day.
(2) The ratio of distance driven from home to work time to drive from home to work for Sue that day was 64 kilometers per hour.

1. IMO E

You don't really need to do any calculations for this question. Just use your logic.

We need to know what percent of those who submit applications for admission enroll in classes at the university?

St 1: 15% of those who submit applications for admission are accepted at the university.

Getting accepted is not the same as enrolling for classes. The students might get accepted by the university but we have no information regarding how many accepted this offer and enrolled --- INSUFF

St 2: 8% of those who are accepted send a deposit to the university.

Again same logic. Sending the deposit does not confirm that these students will actually enroll for subjects. Probably they withdrew after depositing.---INSUFF

Together also we don't know whether how many students actually accepted the offer and enrolled. Hence C is also INSUFF

Answer should be E.

"ratio of distance driven from home to work time to drive from home to work " didn't quite get this part.
