A certain company's laundry

by mangomangodolly » Mon Nov 26, 2012 9:41 am
A certain company's laundry detergent was originally packaged in rectangular boxes of length L cm, width W cm, and height H cm. Based on marketing research, the company changed the dimensions of the boxes used to package the detergent. The volume of the rectangular boxes after the change is what percent greater or less than the volume of the original rectangular boxes?

(1) The area of each length-width side of the boxes after the change is 10% greater than the area of each of the original length-width sides.

(2) The area of each width-height side of the boxes after the change is 5% less than the area of each of the original width-height sides.

A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.
D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

IMO C should be the answer
Replying a query takes patience and time. The least a person can do is to thank the reply.
