Hi
I wrote 3 GMAT practice tests, one on every alternate day, in the past week.

1st- Veritas Prep Online Free test. Scored 730
2nd- Kaplan Online Free test. Scored 660
3rd- Gmat Prep test. Scored 740

In all the three tests, there was not a single question that i had seen before. Because of the huge variation in test scores on Kaplan and Gmat prep i am bit confused as to where i stand currently. I have my GMAT test five days later. I still have one test from GMAT prep remaining, which i will be writing day after tomorrow.

It would be great if experts could guide me.

Many thanks :)

The Veritas test and the GMATPrep test are both based on Item Response Theory. This means that the difficulty level of each question is measured based on the results of actual students attempting these question during exams. This is what the official GMAT does as well.

In particular the GMATPrep uses the same algorithm (with some adjustments) that is used on the actual GMAT. With a Veritas Prep score of 730 and a GMATPrep score of 740 that is the range you are looking at. The 660 could have a number of explanations. As you say you are taking the other GMATPrep test but I would certainly predict that if things go reasonably well for you on test day that you should earn at least a 700.

Let us know what the other GMATPrep score is when you have finished that exam.

I have found GMATPrep tests(now there are four official tests) to be the most reliable in predicting official GMAT scores, the final score of my students on the exam has typically been plus or minus 20 points. Keep in mind that there is an additional stress of being in an exam center and taking the real test as opposed to doing the GMATPrep at home. That is one reason I often recommend students to go to a neutral and quiet place such as a library.

Best wishes for the exam.

Thanks David. Thanks Dabral.
I wrote another GMAT prep test yesterday. Again scored 740.
In the first test when i scored 740, 6 ques in Quants were incorrect and 10 questions in Verbal were incorrect, with most of the questions going wrong in SC.

In the second test, in which i again scored 740. Only 4 questions were wrong in each of the sections. Mostly silly mistakes in Quants, such as instead of selecting 1/2 i selected 2/1 as the right answer.

In verbal my mind got diverted while working on an RC and 3 out of the 4 wrong answers are in that RC. Why was the score same as the previous test, even though fewer questions were wrong.
Usually, by the time i reach the verbal section the mind is quite exhausted, thereby get diverted. How can i improve my stamina and concentration. I have my test this Friday.

In the last GMAT prep test i found the Quants questions to be quite easy. Do the questions in the GMAT prep tests represent the level of the actual GMAT test questions?

Many Thanks
Kartik
