in a class of 40 student,22 study mathematics and physics, 8 study mathematics and chemistry, 5 study physics and chemistry and 3 study all 3 subjects.if the number of students who study only physics has the same mark as those who studies only chemistry.i)illustrate this information on a venn diagram ii)find the number of students who study only physics and only one subject

This is clearly not a GMAT-style question. For one, the wording is terrible. For another, the GMAT will not ask you to solve 2-part questions on the Quant. Please do not post non-GMAT questions!

If you're struggling with the structure of the Venn diagram, though, it would look like this:

Since 8 + 22 + 3 + 5 = 38, then 2x + M must equal 2. This means that either x = 1 and M = 0 (which is likely what is implied), or x = 0 and M = 2.
