Waitlisted at NYU Stern Part time Program

by aanikola » Tue Dec 07, 2010 11:21 am
Hi,

I was waitlisted a few weeks ago at NYU Stern's part time program starting Spring 2011. Since applying I have obtained a new position in the same field that I applied in, teaching IT. When I originally applied I stated that I was located in Pittsburgh PA, now I am located in Jersey, 40 minutes away from Washington Square.

My question, should I send an update to NYU, and is there any suggestions for templates on the update?

More profile information: I got a 670 (42 quant 38 verb) on my GMAT. I have been working in IT for 8 years with progressively more responsibility, and for the past 1.5 years I have been teaching IT. My major flaw is my undergrad QPA, which is 2.5.

Thank you,
Mike

Since your GPA is your weakness, I would suggest (1) retaking the GMAT and (2) maybe enrolling in a few local college courses in your weakest area (ie, college level stats or calculus if quant was our weakness). Both of these will boost your profile, show initiative and help better prepare your for returning to school. Also, if you connect with admissions about what courses to take before hand, it would give you a reason to keep a dialogue open with them...never a bad thing. Good luck....Lagone is the best for PT.
