practice scores take INCREDIBLE DROP 4 days before test

Hey there,

My test date in on monday, and I just took a practice test that scored out at a horrible 470 (v:23 m:29)
This is the exact score of my very first practice test.

I have had scores around 570 and 600's my last few tests.

I am most shocked that I just got the m:29 score since my last test was m:42.

I am so incredibly discouraged

This historically happens with me and standardized testing. I could be pulling 710s and on test day I will score a 500 or something like that.
I am now discouraged and realizing that psychometric variance is something I can't beat in my scoring.

I have no idea what to do or thing.
I really need to pull a decent score. I have a wonderfully strong application, but my GMAT scores need to at least be manageable.

PLEASE HELP ME! I am now on a thin line between flipping out and just losing all confidence

To give another spin and help explain my score problem, I am also ADD- But I can't take any ADD medication because I have extreme and serious side effects/reactions to the different meds. (and no I dont run out of time and have never had time problems.) it gets complicated, but isn't helping and is partially(maybe more than I admit) linked with my life long standardized testing issues.

Hi RevRockSteady:

From the info you've provided, it seems like this disappointing experience was a fluke. Just because this happened doesn't mean that your actual GMAT performance will turn out the same way!

Try to look at this practice test fluke as an opportunity (as cheesy as that sounds). Examine your test results carefully, and try to identify where things went wrong. By identifying what went wrong, you can prevent mistakes on your actual test.

Also, keep in mind that the GMAT is of secondary importance to a "wonderfully strong application." In your app, I would also mention your ADD.

Stay confident, and take action to figure out your mistakes! You can do it!

Just want to echo something Eric said - analyze that test completely and figure out WHY your math score dropped. If you know why, you can do something about it. And hang in there! :)
