MGAT CAT compared to the real thing

by tisrar02 » Mon Jul 16, 2012 12:15 pm
Hello all,

I was just wondering how closely related the MGAT prep tests are compared to the real thing. Reason why I ask is because I've been scoring to my target goal of 620 with the MGAT practice exams but also recently took a Knewton CAT and scored a dismissal 460. Do not know why the fluctuation in scores but if someone could let me know, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Tahir

I believe MGMAT reports it's standard deviation to be +/- 50 points, while the official is +/- 30. Manhattan is typically considered pretty accurate, but you would get the most accurate score from taking the GMATPrep test since it's created by the actual test makers from retired official test questions.

I took a MGMAT and Knewton CAT two days apart at the very start of my studying, and the scores differed by 90 points.

So, don't stress too much about the scores fluctuations from test prep companies. Download the GMATPrep software.
