This is one of the 800 score test question. I marked D but it says E . I don't think it should be E as the "that of" clearly not refers to the work of Plato or David or Bertrand.
Please explain.

E: George Santayana's work more resembles that of Plato's poetic narratives and Henry David Thoreau's obsessive detailing.
Here, that seems to be standing in for work.
Conveyed meaning of the portion in red:
the WORK of...NARRATIVES
the WORK of...DETAILING
These phrases are redundant.
Ignore this SC.
