1.5 months in, what do you reccomend I do now?

Been studying for about a month and a half now. I plan to take the exam on the 17th of next month, so I have a little under a month to go. So far, I have been extensively taking practice exams from both Manhattan and Kaplan. I consistently score between 660-680 range. My math is satisfactory relative to my expectations (46ish), and I know I clearly need to work on my verbal (36ish). It seems like in math, I always seem to lose steam because it gets to the 700 level questions so fast. In verbal, I just need to do more practice questions.

What materials and books do you recommend for me to jump above the 660-680 tier into the 700's for the next month? My goal is to get at least a 720. I was thinking the Manhatten advanced quantitative and verbal books, as well as the Kaplan 800 book. Any other tips or strategies for jumping over that hump?

Hi Kellogs,

There's no one book that will make that jump for you -- to do it you need to identify and address the gaps in your content knowledge. To do this, I would go back through your last few practice tests and log all your incorrect questions using an Error Log. You can find free templates for them online, or here: https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2010/11/ ... -error-log.

The second thing I'd suggest is solidifying your method for each Verbal question type -- SC, RC and CR. You should be able to write out your strategy step-by-step. Type them up and put them on your wall above your desk. Make sure that your strategies are really serving you (i.e. your accuracy is above 90% when you work untimed).

For books, I like MGMAT SC, Powerscore CR for Verbal. I'd suggest working through RC on your own and working out your own strategy. You can see my own strategy here: https://www.beatthegmat.com/rc-99-passage-39-t81093.html
