Hello all

i am a newbie. ive been studying for about 1 month now- i have only the Princeton Review 2007. Do you think that's enough to get me a good score (620 and up)?

If not, what are the minimum requirements (books/materials) that i need to get?

I got the Princeton book on loan from a friend, but after reading the posts here, i think that's not good enough/...am i right?

hello all

after carefully reading some of the posts here, i decided to buy the following books:

1)Official Guide for the GMAT 11
- And the 2 verbal supplements

2)OG companion (gmatfix.com) - is this really needed? its expensive :(

3)MGMAT SC

4)Kaplan Premier Program

5)Kaplan 800

6)I already have a Princeton Review book at home which i';ve been studying for the past month.

I will have about 3 months to study for my test.
The hard part for me is figuring out a strategy/plan to cover all these books in that time.
I don't know which book to start with, and if so, do i read one book, and then move on to the next?

Can someone please help me figure out a study strategy once i get the books? thank you!!!
Also, do you think any of those books are unecessary?

Hi Alex,

The materials you've chosen seem really good. I don't know much about the Kaplan stuff, but OG Companion, Manhattan SC and the Official Guides are essential in my opinion.

I assume you'll be using the GMATPrep testing software? It's the best test assessment tool hands down but the HUGE downside is that it doesn't have solutions. Still a must have. You can post questions that come up on a forum like this one, or get access to a 3rd party solution set like gmatfix Quant Solutions Set.

Hey man,

I'm in the same position as you. Currently I am just researching information to create a structured plan to attack the GMAT studying. I read thru a lot of Eric's blog and ammassed some information so far. I started my own blog to just write out my ideas and plan if you want to see what I'm doing. So far I'm keeping it simple by

1) reading the PR book just to familiarize myself with the test in general
2) take 1 simulated practice test a week
3) Crack open OG 11 and take my time day by day to answer the questions and really go over the answers in detail to figure out the logic behind it (use the excel tables to really analyze my weaknesses)
4) Create flashcards as I go in addition to Eric's Flash cards.. keep them near the pooper and review them whenever I can haha
5) Blog about my thoughts and revelations.
6) Actively participate in the forums to surround myself with those who are in my position who can either be helped or help me out

I literally started 2 days ago but here's my blog

https://gmatresults.blocked/

I figure I'd just take it one step at a time and if I feel like I still need more help after OG11 I will go onto the next book that helps me in my area of weakness.

Hope this helps Good luck!!

Yea. I just picked up Princeton Review's Cracking the GMAT 2009 Edition 30 minutes ago and i'm cracking that crack. So far its a really good read on just familiarizing yourself with the GMAT and the general concepts applied towards the GMAT. The cool thing I like about it is the summary it has at the end of each chapter that makes it easy to refresh and remember what you just read.

Good luck buddy!

I would throw into the mix PowerScore Critical Reasoning Bible.

I have found it to be rather good and helpful (also working LSAT Logical Reasoning Questions---same format as CR, but harder).

Just read this off of Eric's Blog to give you a heads up. The link below basically says that the cracking the GMAT's math review sucks compared to what was actually on the test. I'm still on the math review but I think I won't take it so seriously now.
