NYU part time FALL 2011 - wait listed

by coding » Sun Jul 24, 2011 11:55 am
Following is my profile:

GMAT1: 550 / AWA: 5.0
GMAT2: 590 / AWA: 5.5
UG GPA: 3.9 (Computer Science, from an Indian university)
MS GPA: 3.7 (Computer Science, from Texas)

2 strong recommendations
Guaranteed financial support for PT MBA

early 30's candidate
4+ years of work exp in NY financial services information technology (top banks).

I applied for Fall 2011 PT at NYU and have been wait listed. Clearly GMAT score is my weakness. Would you guys recommend me taking a GMAT at this point again to get my application through or should I wait and watch?

I am ok retrying GMAT but the time lines are so short to meet for the start date of the Fall class ?? To re-take I would like to prepare, unsure how will I meet the Spring deadlines.

Should I consider taking GRE ? In the past my GRE score was 1210 (back in 2003).

What is the kind of acceptance from wait lists from the past ? The website says 80% of acceptances GMAT from 600-700+, I was hoping to be among the remaining of 20% to find a spot.

Do you mind me asking when you received notification? I haven't heard anything yet and I've seen few posts from people who have been accepted into the Fall 2011 PT program at NYU...

I'm out. The suckers dinged me yesterday. Fordham is my default.

Sorry to hear Mood. I also got dinged from NYU this round. I will be applying to Fordham in the Spring 2012. Would you mind if I stayed in contact with you and got your feedback about Fordham?

Absolutely!

I love this forum and have, honestly, been looking for more feedback on Fordham myself. I had all my eggs in NYU that I haven't even given much thought about my fallback. I'll keep you updated.

Keep in mind you can still apply to NYU Stern's Langone Part-Time MBA for the following semester. The fact that you had been waitlisted the previous round (Fall) means you were close to being accepted.

Good luck on your admissions process whichever direction you choose,
