can I use my gmat score after an appreciable time interval?

Hi
I'm still in the stages where I'm only preparing for the gmat exam,being from the Indian male IT applicant pool my chances are slim and hence I want to work on my profile after having appeared for the gmat exam,can i use my score after 1-2 years or then the score will lose its credibility?
