Hi malik.anam--

The important thing to keep in mind is that GMAT scores are good for 5 years. That means if you were to take the test today, you would need to matriculate at a MBA program before October 20, 2016 - which means that you'd need to apply for that program probably in 2015. Make sure that the timing of that plan matches up for how long your test score will be valid.

The advantage to testing a little earlier is that it gives you time to retest if your score is low. And, it's usually easier to take a test when you're in "study mode" at school already. It can be a good idea to take the GMAT while you're still in college, if you know for sure that you want to apply for an MBA program soon thereafter.

Hope this helps!

The best part of GMAT is that it has very modest syllabus and it still builds up on you. So first thing is to know where do you stand. Take a basic gmat book ..even gmat for dummies..and then explore all the syllabus elements...finally appear for a mock to see where you stand. Then create a target in your mind. 700+ is a very good one.
There are two methods to GMAT prep: one is brewing method..slowly improving which helps in improving timing
second is fast fermenting : it can be a 90 day or a 60 day...this requires a definite plan with very true commitment.

For your case I would suggest the brew method. Take your time to do it slowly and improve yourself generically.

And dont forget to keep GPA high and start taking part in EC's.
