Folks,
Here is an another article confirming the increase in questions:

Few questions:
1. I am sure that this article is absolutely credible. But can this news be corroborated by other sources as well?
2. Has there been an appropriate update to GMAT prep or other practice software to practice with additional questions?
3. Apart from time management strategies to answer additional questions (It certainly appears that the two minute time period one normally assumes to complete a question needs to be reduced), what are the forum's thoughts about preparation strategies for this change?

I would definitely NOT change my study strategies until I see an official release from GMAC (www.mba.com). I think it could be severely counter-productive

Don't be so sure - it's absolutely clear that the article is *not* credible. The headline says that the "GMAT gets 300 new questions". The first sentence of the article says that the GMAT is "carrying 33% more new questions" (fixing that first sentence would be a good SC exercise, incidentally; there are two mistakes in the quoted sentence fragment alone). The GMAT currently features 80 questions (two essays, 37 Quant, and 41 Verbal). If you increase 80 by 33%, you don't get 380.

The new Official Guide features 300 new questions. The GMAT test does not.
