The reason why choice 4 is wrong is may the the Absolute value of x.

while plotting the graph we use the actual value of x and not the absolute value but choice 4 is referring to its absolute value.

A,B,C all refer to IN-finite lines,
E should be the correct answer.

I dint understand why E is the correct answer.
I did the following:
for different values of x find 3x+4. But the values are bound between 2 and 6 inclusive. That being the case

X 3x +4
-----------------
-1 3*-1 +4 = +1 NOT betwn 2 & 6
0 4 OK
+1 3+4 = 7 Not betwn 2 & 6.


OOOPS!!!! while typing this reply I understood. I was about to say that I get only 1 point (ie for x = 0) but now I realize I can choose real numbers and hence can get a line bounded between 2 and 4.

However the Absolute x still remains unanswered... can someone explain??

In your mind, try to plot both pos and neg numbers that will satisfy "E".

You will find that you do not get one finite segment on the numberline, but rather, you will have two. Having two segments does not satisfy the question stem.
