Practice Tests...

by briancasebolt » Wed Nov 14, 2007 11:54 am
I just read a post earlier, but want to expound upon it.

I took the test yesterday and did not score as I would have liked. I took all the paper tests offered by GMAC and believe they were not very challenging in the Quant. Section.

Please guide me to any and all other practice tests. Further, please comment about the accuracy of each practice test. (I do not want any false sense of confidance going into the retake!)

The tests I have heard of, but would like suggestions are:

1) PowerPrep
2) Manhatten's Practice Tests
3) Kaplan's Practice Tests

I have already taken the GMATPrep on mba.com. Please guide me to any and all other tests that would prove helpful.

THANK YOU!!!

The only other practice test I would recommend to your list is Princeton Review.

In terms of accuracy, that's not something that can easily be rated. All the resources you listed would serve as very good practice for you, but I would take all the scoring algorithms with a grain of salt.

source of PowerPrep?

by briancasebolt » Fri Nov 16, 2007 7:35 pm
My next question is where to get these tests?

PowerPrep is located where? Online in some method?

Also, does MGMAT and PR have CAT's for purchase? Or will all these products be paper products through book purchase?

Powerprep was the previous GMATPrep and can only be found at selected sources. I may have the install somewhere before, PM me if you can't find it? Not sure re: copyrights on that software so I prefer not to host it on a server.

MGMAT's free test I'm having difficulty getting as well, it seems like I need to sit through a 2 hour online course before it opens up? If someone can clarify that'd be great.

In my experience so far w/ three Kaplan sample CAT's I've only gotten low 600's. It seems like the scoring is much more difficulty. Good practice, nevertheless, as they also provide answers whereas GMATPrep leaves you to find answers on your own.

Check the Wiki if it's still up, wealth of info there to be found.

I did the GMATprep (the two of them) and I got 700 and 750.
As for the Manhattan GMAT, I feel it's more difficult than the GMATprep

Brian, I know you can get MGMAT's stuff from their site but don't know where else they sell it. Probably Amazon. You can get PR's book (Cracking the GMAT) pretty much anywhere. It comes with a DVD with access to the four CATs online. I didn't use MGMAT so I don't know their format.
