Which of the following lists the number of points at which a circle can intersect a triangle?

A) 2 and 6 only
B) 2, 4, and 6 only
C) 1,2,3 and 6 only
D) 1,2,3,4 and 6 only
E) 1,2,3,4,5, and 6

OA E

What is this question asking for? Can anyone explain what the choices mean? I did get the answer right, but I had to guess.

Help appreciated.

Yes it is E as posted above.
What in the world is with these answer choices that are given?

I think i get it now that I look at the question carefully

With this question I think it's the law of diminishing returns that applies to me.
I just understood the question. Thanks for the help anyways.

I can see the 1, 2,3 and 6 but can somebody please show me 4 and 5 ?

I see the answer as "E"
If you try making a picture of how circle can intersect a triangle.

Can someone elaborate more in this question?

What is this question asking for?
How to approach it ? i.e drawing the circle and the triangle in a coordinate plane or what?

re-opening this question.

Is there a quicker way of solving this problem.
I had to think of 6 diagrams to satisfy each option from 1 to 6.
Not exactly a time-saver!!

Experts please tell me how you would approach this problem on a time limit.

Hey all,

i think the answer should be B
coz the question says how many points the circle will intersect and not touch.
so we should no consider the case of tangents

hence there will only be either 2 ,4 or 6 points .
hope the diagram makes my clear...
