please provide method to solve within 2minutes: a mere soln is not must but ways to handle under 2-minute

A garrison of 3300 men had provisions for 32 days, when given at the rate of 850 gms per head. At the end of 7days, a reinforcement arrives and it was found that the provision will last 17 days more, when given at the end of 825 gms per head, What is the strength of the reinforcement.

Here buddy.. One minute method :)

one simple equation:

(3300 + x)*825*17 = 3300*25*850

In this equation
x = reinforcement
17 = Number of days provisions will last with the new reinforcement
25 = Number of days left out of 32 when provisions have been consumed for 7 days.
850 = Initial 850gms/day
825 = Later on 825gms/day after reinforcement arrives..


x = 1700 is the answer

Quantity of Food at Beginning. 3300 x 850 x 32 ( in units of gms).( Note: Dividing this number by 3300 x 850, you get 32 days, so you know how to move from quantity to number of days.) After 7 seven days quantity of food left is 3300 x 850 x 25 . If no reinforcement comes and you divide by 3300 x 850 you get 25 days. With reinforcment, 3300 will go up and 850 drops to 825. You know how to get days from quantity:

(3300 x 850 x 25)/ T x 825 =17
T= (3300 x 850 x 25)/ 17 x 825
T=5000
Reinforcement is 1700.
