Brain Teaser - Dont know the answer

Hi guys,

I was trying a brain teaser in equations and wasnt sure how it could be solved, if it could be solved.

I do not know the answer and will definitely move it to some other forum if this is not the right place. Please let me know.

The problem is attached as an image.

The person who sent me the question earlier also sent me a link to the solution (it is not exactly a solution though, just a concept)...He was just messing with my mind since I told him I was preparing for the exam....

I am not sure if this will ever be tested on GMAT but it is something interesting.

i dont think this can be solved
coz if u calculate discrminator in dino. it is not Real

b^2 - 4ac

9 - 4*3 = -3
D<0, So roots of eq are imaginary and GMAT deals in Real Nos only....not imaginary

if u stil want , u can take roots as Iota..and then can solve

That is what I told my friend and then he sent me the link.

The discriminator is negative - so, no roots. Hence cant be solved...

Anyways, it worked my brain for a couple of minutes...

This is not the place to post this question :) . But the link provided is pretty straightforward, so what if the denominator does not have real roots, in such a case it would not divide the numerator perfectly and hence would have a remainder =/= 0 . This is what seems to have been given in the link too.
