GMA Prep -2x > 3y, is x negative question

Hello, I searched a couple of times, could not find this question. Perhaps too easy, any way have a look and help me out fellow gmatters

If -2x>3y, is x negative?

(1) y>0
(2) 2x+5y-20=0

OA is D.

Hey Vikz,

(1) y>0

since, y is positive, therefore (-2x) has to be positive to be greater than 3y...

Hence, X has to be negative...

Sufficient.

2x+5y-20=0

therefore, -2x = 5y -20

There, 5y - 20 > 3y

2y>20

hence, Y is positive.
Hence, X is negative.

Sufficient.
