Bowls X and Y each contained exactly 2 jelly beans, each of which was either red or black. One of the jelly beans in bowl X was exchanged with one of the jelly beans in bowl Y. After the exchange, were both of the jelly beans in bowl X black?

1) Before the exchange, bowl X contained 2 black jelly beans
2) After the exchange, bowl Y contained 1 jelly bean of each color

Bowls X and Y each contained exactly 2 jelly beans, each of which was either red or black. One of the jelly beans in bowl X was exchanged with one of the jelly beans in bowl Y. After the exchange, what is the probability that both of the jelly beans in bowl X are black?

Possibility 1.
Before exchange
X: BB, Y: RR.
After exchange
X: RB, Y: BR.
Different

Possibility 2.
Before exchange
X: BB, Y: RB.
After exchange
X: BB, Y: RB.
Both black

Why not C ?

2) After the exchange, bowl Y contained 1 jelly bean of each color.

That means that before the exchange both jellys at Y were red.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think B

Stm 1 X had both black...but Y may have both black as well so not suff

Stm2 After the exchange Y has one of each color. Possible only if the bowls have different color bowls. After exchange if Y has Red and Black then before it had either both red or both black. Hence X as well had either both red or both black. This statement answers the q/s that X does not have both black after exchange
