if x not equal to -y that indicates

(x+y) not = 0

1.consider statement 1

x>0 which indicates x is positive and here we are not aware about the value of y henec it is insufficient

2.consider statement 2

y<0 which indicates y is always negative value but x value is uknown hence it is insufficient

Considering both the statements 1 and 2 together

x is positive and y is negative
if we substitute numbers in teh above equations

suppose x = 5 and y = -2

then (x-y)/(x+y) = 7/3 >1;

suppose x = 0.5 and y =-0.4

then (x-y)/(x+y) = 0.9/0.1 = 9 which is greater then 1

hence i assume that option C would be the best ans choice for this question

I think the answer should be E.
As the absolute value of x can be less than y, in which case (x-y)/(x+y) <1

for Example, lets take x =2, y=-3
so (x-y)/(x+y) = 5/-1 , which is less than 1
so, the data is not sufficient (E)
