Here is the approach I'm using to narrow down the answer choices. While there are strategies for question types I am not covering that here.
My strategy
Step 1. Is Statement 1 sufficient? Come up with YES or NO.
Step 2. Is Statement 2 sufficient? Come up with YES or NO.
Optional Step 3. If result was NO,NO, ask a third question: Together are the statements sufficient?
So depending on the answers above the Yes / No questions I come up with an answer. Here is a visual that better explains it than my ranting.
: Is there anything fundamentally wrong with using this strategy that anyone can think of. It seems to work for me especially since I have to end up analyzing both questions anyway.
