is /x/ <1? (please consider the / / as the absolute value signal

1 /x +1/ = 2 /x-1/

2 /x-3/different from 0

Is there any other way of solving it without squaring both sides on1? Could I square both sides if it was a inequality?

About how many question on the GMAT are on abs value? About how many on inequalities?

Thanks!

Option 1:

by considering modes on both sides as +ve, we are getting x as 3 & -3
by considering modes on either side as +ve, we are getting x as 1/3 & -1/3

Ambiguous and hence not sufficient

Option 2:
/x-3/ is not equal to 0
means x is not equal to 3

not sufficient

Joining option 1 & 2
sufficient as /x/ = 1/3

IMO c. What is OA?
