If increasing 20 by P percent gives the same result as decreasing 60 by P percent,what is P percent of 70?

Please help to explain.
Thanks in advance.
20+ 20p/100= 60- 60p/100
=>400=8p
=> p = 50

hence 70p/100= 7*5=35

hope this helps..!!

We can quickly guess and check.
Start with 50% and work from there.

If P=50:
20 increased by 50% = 20 + .5(20) = 30.
60 decreased by 50% = 60 - .5(60) = 30.
Success!

50% of 70 = .5(70) = 35.
