Ricks has written extensively on not only major figures in English poetry like Milton and Housman, but also on the lyrics of Bob Dylan.

A. on not only major figures in English poetry like Milton, but also on
B. not only on the poetry of such major figures as Milton and Housman, but also on
C. not only on major figures in English poetry like Milton and Housman, but also on
D. on major figures in English poetry like Milton and Housman, as well as
E. on major figures in English poetry such as Milton and Housman, but also on

How can you choose the OA when something important as English is missing from the context of the original sentence!!!!

Please EXPLAIN.

Hmm.. I would say the answer is B?

Here's why:
First of all, we need to distinguish "such as" and "like." We need to use "such as" here, since Ricks has presumably written extensively on Milton and Housman. This takes out A, C, and D, leaving us with B and E. However, in choice E, the word 'but' is not appropriate since it doesn't refute anything or provide a contrary view to anything.
Have you wondered how you could have found such a treasure? -T
