College students

In a sample of college students, 40 percent are thirdyear
students and 70 percent are not second-year
students. What fraction of those students who are not
third-year students are second-year students?
(A) 3/4
(B) 2/3
(C) 4/7
(D)1/2
(E) 3/7

70% are not 2nd year students. Hence 30% are 2nd Year students - II

Now the problems asks for What fraction of students who are not
third-year students are second-year students?

Hence it is II / I = 60/30 = 1/2

How you got 60/30=1/2.

i think its a typo by krupa!!!

its shud be

second year/ not third year

30/60 = 1/2

hope it clear ur doubt!!
