Kathy wakes up on New Year's Day with 2 unknown men in her bed and one on the couch. She knows an omelette recipe that calls for two eggs per person. But she has only 7 eggs, and moreover, she wants to give the guy on the couch a double portion.

If she goes ahead and cooks breakfast for everybody and gives the couch guy twice as much as everyone else, by what percent is Kathy's portion reduced from the original recipe?

(A) 12.5%
(B) 20%
(C) 25%
(D) 30%
(E) 33 1/3%

Man I just hate it when that happens... I mean poor Kathy, waking up with three unknown guys and not having enough eggs! You've got three guys, there should be plenty of eggs to harvest using a butcher knife... At least that's what I'd do!

Now, on a more mathematical note:
Well, since you've got two guys, Kathy and the poor couch guy who didn't get any action but who will in turn get a double portion of food, you would need (2 + 1 + 2)*2 = 10 eggs for everyone to get the 2-eggs-per-person portion. Now, since we've only got 7 eggs, that means that, for every egg in the original recipe, you get only 7/10 = 0.7 eggs for this one. Kathy's portion would have been 2 initially, since she would get two eggs, but now she has to settle for 2*.7 = 1.4 eggs. So her portion is reduced by:
x/100*2 = (2 - 1.4) = 0.6, so x = 50*0.6 = 30%.

My answer would be D. Please let me know if I've guessed it correctly.

2 eggs = 100%

5 portions we have 7 eggs

Kathy's original recipe calls for two eggs which equal 100%.
She would get only 7/10 portion so she would have 70% of her portion.
So her portion is 30% less,

hence Kathy is probably a cheap drunk and an easy hit + the guy on the couch is overweight + from the sound of it her bed and her couch are in the same room so she is living in a small apartment.

P.S. DanaJ ouch.

answer is 30%.
7 eggs have to be divided in 5 portions in which couch guy will have 2 portions for not sleeping with her or atleast not found sleeping with her.

so kathy will get 7/5.
2-7/5 = 3/5.
2x= 100*3/5.
x=30%

i m so jealous of those guys. :evil:
