I dont understand the logic, please explain how the answer is E

If 4/[5-(a/b)] = 1, which of the following must be true?

a. a=0
b. b=0
c. a=1
d. b=1
e. a=b

Hey,

Here's a detailed outline:

4/[5-(a/b)] = 1

Multiply both sides by 5-(a/b):

4 = 5 - a/b

Subtract 5 from both sides:

4 - 5 = -a/b

-1 = -a/b

Multiply both sides by -1:

1 = a/b

Multiply both sides by b:

b = a

That's pretty much it.

Make sense?
