If m and v are integers, what is the value of m + v?

E is the correct answer, but i thought it should be C.

from statement 2,
(m+v)^2 = 25. so, (m+v) = + or -5.

from statement 1, mv=6. Since m and v are integers, they can be, 2 and 3 or 6 and 1, but only the values 2 and 3 satisfy the first statement.
So, m+v = 5.

So, both statements together are sufficient.

What did i mess up here?

m+v = |5| mv = 6

So m and v can also take values of -3 and -2 or -6 and -1. Hence this is not sufficient.

I did the same thing, then I realized...

1) mv=6, (1,6),(-1,-6),(2,3),(-2,-3)

2) (m+v)^2=25, m+v= 5, -5

Combine, (m,v) = (2,3) or (-2,-3). m*v for both are 6, and m+v= 5 or -5. Not sufficient.

2*3=6 but -2*-3=6

(2+3)^2=25 but (-2-3)^2=25

so it not just simply m and v are positive, thwy could be nagetive.

COmbine: m+v=5 or m+v=-5, insuff. so it is E
