Hi Firends,

Please help me in solving this problem:

If the number between 0 and 1/2 is selected at random, Which of the following will the number most likely be between?

A. 0 and 3/20
B. 3/20 and 1/5
C. 1/5 and 1/4
D. 1/4 and 3/10
E. 3/20 and 1/2

I could not understand the explanation given in og 10. Also I tried to find this question in previous post but could not find it. If its already been discussed please point me to correct thread.

Let us carefully examine the given answer choices....

A. 0 and 3/20
the no lies between 0 and 0.15
B. 3/20 and 1/5
the no lies between 0.15 and 0.20
C. 1/5 and 1/4
the no lies between 0.20 and 0.25
D. 1/4 and 3/10
the no lies between 0.25 and 0.3
E. 3/20 and 1/2
the no lies between 0.15 and 0.5

The question is asking you to find a number that is most likely to lie between 0 and 1/2
So you shud look for answer choice with the highest range...choice E is apt as it has got a higher range (0.35) and is within the desired range( 0 and 0.5)....
