After 15 years in marketing communications, thought I'd tackle GMAT and explore MBA, but a discouraging start. I forget everything I ever learned except what's on my first graders math homework. I've had to refresh on simplest of terms (integers, etc ) but I don't know how to read this one at all, even with the answer explanation. This is where I'm stuck: OG 11th edition first diagnostic test, problem solving. page 46 question 3.
Where do I go for a refresher as I am completely lost. "the sequence a1, a2...etc. What is the value of a6?" I know an exponent is shown as a raised no. but I have no idea what the footnote looking numbers are and what to assume about the sequence, i.e., is it a pattern?. (no laughing). I had a 3.4 gpa at a decent school and I think well into 600s on SAT's but again, many years passed, kids, etc. Could anyone kindly help me out with this one. The answer explains it as an applied algebra problem but still clueless. Be kind.
