t + s + r = 360

Statement(1) and (2) when combined give us the value of r and s, and thus t can be determined from the equation given above.

Think of it as a circle rather than the diagram given.

so as t + s + r = 360.

Knowing only one would not give you the a unique value Hence combining them is necessary.
