In a certain school, out of a total of 65 students, 80 percent are currently enrolled in either a history course or literature course, or both. How many of the students are currently enrolled in a history course?

1. Ten of the students are currently enrolled in both a history course and a literature course.

2. Thirty-three of the students are currently enrolled in a literature course.

I prematurely selected B \

L + H = .8(65) = 52, thus 13 students not found in either class. So when I knew that L + H = 52, I subtracted 52 from 33 and got 19 for H.

But when I plugged out everything in a overlapping set matrix, it was clear that the answer was C

From statements 1&2;

(H union L) = 65* 80% = 52
(H intersection L) = 10
L = 33

53 = H + 33 - 10
H=29
Hence, answer is C
