The small divisions are: 1/7,2/7,3/7,4/7,5/7,6/7 and 1
The large divisions are : 1/5,2/5,3/5,4/5 &1
Now,
1/5-1/7=2/35
2/5-2/7=4/35
3/7-2/5=1/35
and so on...

So, the smallest division is 1/35.

Good solution, but I'd have started by converting everything to 35ths for easier comparison.

5ths: 7/35, 14/35, 21/35, 28/35
7th: 5/35, 10/35, 15/35... hey, we can stop, since 14/35 and 15/35 are 1/35 apart and that's as close as we can possibly get.
