nancy, karen, and paul rent an apartment for $900. if karen agrees to pay twice as much as paul and nancy agrees to pay twice as much as karen, how much must karen pay?

a. $100
b. $200
c. $300
d. $450
3. $600

let paul = x
karen = 2x
nancy = 4x
x + 2x + 4x = $900
i can't solve! what am i missing? is this like a sick and twisted riddle?

I cant find an answer from the ones you posted.

There must be a typo in the question - try backsolving all 5 choices, none give you total rent of $900.

If the total rent were $700, then the answer would be $200 for Karen (so if (b) is the correct answer, that's how the question should have read).

translation perspective

what is the best way to set this up? i got n+k+P= 900, k=2p, and n=2x. Am i on the right track would this help the situation out at all?
Appetite for 700 and I scraped my plate!
