GMATPREP1 Easy Help

by EMAN » Sun Jan 03, 2010 8:36 pm
If xy + z = x(y +z), which of the following must be true?

(A) x = 0 and z = 0
(B) x = 1 and y = 1
(C) y = 1 and z = 0
(D) x = 1 and y = 0
(E) x = 1 and z = 0

(A) = 0Y + 0 = 0 (Y + 0) = then 0 = 0Y + 0 = 0 = 0 = Why is this wrong?
(B) 1Y + Z = 1 (1 + Z) = Y + Z = 1 + Z = Clearly Incorrect
(C) X * 1 + 0 = X (1 + 0) = 1X + 0 = 1X + 0 Correct
(D) 1Y + 0 = 1 (0 + Z) = Y + 0 = 0 + z = Clearly Incorrect
(E) 1Y + 0 = 1 (Y + 0) = 1Y + 0 = 1Y + 0 = Why is this wrong?
