You need to first find all the factors for 288.
=2.2.2.2.2.3.3= 2**5 . 3 **2
x=5
y=2

x-1= 4
y-2=0

2**4 . 3**0= 16.1=16

So Answer is A

You know that 2 * a number and 3 * a number must equal 288, so they key is figuring out what those numbers are.

3^2=9
2^5=32

9*32=288

y=2, x=5

just plug x and y in for the solution!
