(1)Linda purchased 3 books at a book fair. What was the median price of the 3 books?
(1) The average (arithmetic mean) price of the 3 books was $1.5
(2) The price of one of the 4 books was $1.5


I chose B because 1.5 will always be the median no matter what

IMO E. From stat 1, sum of the 3 books is 4,5 nothing helps
stat 2 is irrelevant, it say 4 books, which 4 books?

If the statement in red is written by mistake and it had been "One of the 3 books" then the answer would be C.

(1) The average (arithmetic mean) price of the 3 books was $1.5 -- Couldn't tell the median
(2) The price of one of the 3 books was $1.5 -- Couldn't tell the median

Combining the two -- we get to know the prices of the three books has to be

Book1 + 1.5 + Book3 = 1.5 * 3 = 4.5
where Book1 < 1.5 < Book3
So the median is $1.5

Hopes this clear the picture a little.

not 4 books I'm posting wrong. I think answer should be B..
