Equal amounts of water poured into two empty jars of different capacities, which made one jar 1/4 full and the other jar 1/3 full. If the water in teh jar with the lesser capacity is then poured into the jar with the greater capacity, what fraction of the larger jar will be filled with water?

The larger jar is the one which is "less" full. In this case, the larger
jar is the one that is 1/4 full. Since equal amounts of water are poured
into each of the 2 jars, the larger one will become 1/4 + 1/4 = 1/2 full

So, answer = 1/2

You can also try picking numbers, sometimes that makes it go faster. Say that each amount of liquid is 4 so you would have 4/12 and 4/16 respectively pour the 4 into the 4/16 and you have 8/16 or 1/2. Jay's answer is probably more succint but this helps me visualize a little better.
