XY co-ordinates

by vishubn » Wed Oct 22, 2008 10:54 am
In the xy-plane, the line with equation ax + by + c = 0, where abc ≠ 0, has slope
3
2
. What is the
value of b?
(1) a = 4
(2) c = −6
A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is
sufficient.
D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

Any coments ??

the correct answer is A

y= -a/b*x-c/d
the slope is -a/b, which equals 3/2
Statement (1): if we know what is "a", we can find "b".

Statement (2) is not sufficient.

i go for A as well

use the slope formula of -a/b..
