GMAT on 19th. Next 8 days' plan. Feedback plz

by ritz » Tue Apr 08, 2008 7:53 pm
I have my test on 19th. So that leaves me with exact 10 days.
I have taken a 3 day leave from the office, starting tomorrow..
Here is my plan now..
Wednesday Finish the Princeton online test in morning. Complete its review by evening & pick up the OG11.
Thursday - Continue OG11 & ManhattenSC guide
Friday By afternoon, finish off the OG 11 completely. Review all the flash cards.
Friday evening Write Powerprep 2. Complete the test review by Friday night.
Saturday - Start with the Official verbal & quant supplements, progressing backwards.
Sunday- Write the Kaplan Online CAT in morning. Complete the review by night.
Monday-Wednesday - Go thru the fundamentals & also solve some questions from different forums.
Wednesday evening - Write GMAT prep2 in evening.

Thursday - Friday Once I write the GMATPREP2, I will review it & then just go thru my flash cards before the exam on Saturday.

I think that should be enough as I would have given 2 Gmat prep, 2 power prep, 1 mgmat, 1 princeton & 2 kaplan.

Please suggest if I need to change something in my plan.
Also, do you think I should just go through Kaplan 800 as I am aiming for 740 score.

My scores so far: -
GMAT Prep1 720
Power Prep1 740
MGMat 1 670

Regards
Ritz

What do you mean by finishing off OG 11 by friday?

How are you going to study OG.

GMAT study is not just about finishing off any/all books.
There more of :
  • making fundamentals stronger (read : your math & grammar skills)
    analysing your mistakes
finding out new strategies that works best for you.
in preparation.

Flash card is not to be studied like a book. They should be kept in a pocket and (always) review-n-remember them.

Your "CAT practise & then reviewing the answers" strategy is OK. But I dont quite agree with other plans that you have in your mind.

In regards to the og book, I think its best if you go through the questions but I wouldnt worry too much on the actual numbers of questions. INstead, I recommend that you pay attention to the places that you are weak on and hone in on them. Is there a reason for such a drop in scores from gmat prep and powerscore and then a drop in mgmat!?
Appetite for 700 and I scraped my plate!

as compared with the Power prep1 & GMAT PREP, MGMAT was hell lot tougher...
i was simply not able solve a few problem which bogged me down....
that casued me to make 2 silly mistakes & that took my score further down...
but i am aware the actual gmat is not as touch as the MGMAT, so i think, i am ok...
next gmat prep & powerprep will tell the story. I plan to take them in the next few days..
wish me luck...

Thanks for the update & I agree to your suggested approach. I realize & understand that I need not rush to finish the OG, rather concentrate on buliding my fundamentals. If I only cover 100 questions & understand the methodology, that would be better than doing 200 question & not undestnading the concept.

At such an advanced stage of preparation, I need to realize my mistakes more, not to repeat them, brushup up my fundamentals & build up my stamina to focus for the longer durations. I can not afford to change my strategy now & find myself in NO MANS LAND as it is too close to my exam date now.

Based on your advise, I have decided delay todays's CAT until evening & concentrate on OG 11 more. This will give me more time to soak in the concepts.
Flashcards, I keep going thru them whenever i have time. I dont need to keep them in pocket as for the past few days i am either in office or at home. lol...
Thanks for your advice & keep telling me what to do & what not to do. :-)
I will keep posting my updates.

thanks
