Targeting GMAT in July?

by RyanDark » Thu May 06, 2010 6:56 am
Hi,
I am planning to take my GMAT in July.I wanted to use this thread as a place to get suggestions from people who are targeting the same.May be 1 month up and down :).
I started my study with a 3 month study plan based on [https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2009/12/ ... -prep-plan]. I have got most of books suggested in this forum.
My plan :
April:Maths
May:Verbal
June:Practice tests
I try to study atleast 1.5 to 2 hours on weekdays.Weekends around 3-4 hours. Now in the 1st week of May I am running one week late.I still have not completed my Math. I think I will be able to complete by this weekend.
I am not sure whether the amount of hours I am putting in is sufficient for a 3 month plan.I work full time with work hours of 9-10 hours. Can somebody who work full time please give their inputs as to how they manage their full time work with studying for GMAT.

Cheers,
Ryan

Hello
I didn't work full time while I studied the GMAT, but I have had many students who did. One of the tricks that seems to work with some of my students is to do your studying at the office before you go home. There seems to be some psychological effect that makes studying at home after work difficult.

I study for an hour during my "lunch"... I go across the street to barnes and noble. If I'm studying at home... i go downstairs in my lobby area... i refuse to study in my apt

Thank guys! Thats kind of helpful. I was always falling short of energy to go and study after office.Coming back to my study plan. My maths study was entirely based on Kaplan GMAT/GRE Math Workbook.I used this book mainly to revisit my elementary school concepts and some practice questions given in the book. I am planning to invest atleast 1 hour on the maths problems from OG.I am plannnig to do this side by side along with my verbal preparation in May.
Does anybody have any suggestions for going through any other math book for picking up the concepts or I should be good enough to goto OG quant problems?

Doing practice problems is perhaps the most important part of studying for the GMAT. However, if you think you have time, and you want to work on you math, go for the Manhattan GMAT books. They're a bit more expensive, but they're great books.
