{9}=3*9=27
{6}=6/2=3
{9}*{6}=27*3
so, 27*3 is of the form 3*m={m}
{9}*{6}={27}(ANS)

Could the answer be arrived at this way?

9 x 6 = 54, the answer is even. Therefore, it is 54 x 1/2 = 27.

This oen threw me as it says when m is odd, not when (M) is odd. So how would you know which to use -- the odd formula or the even formula?

Thanks,
Vin
