finding the subject

TO find a subject one must understand that the main subject is not in the prepositional phrases. Can someone explain to me what a prepositional phrases is? I am guessing that they are fillers.

ALso why cant a main subject of a sentence be phrases or clasues that are seperated by commas? any help?
