computer and printers

If company M ordered a total of 50 computer and printers and company N ordered a total of 60 computer and printers. How many computers did M ordered.

a) Company M and Company N ordered the same number of computers
b) Company N ordered 10 more printers than Company M

The answer has to be E

Here goes an example

A Computers: 20
A Printers: 30
A total: 50

B Computers: 20
B Printers: 40
B total: 60

or may be

A Computers: 10
A Printers: 40
A total: 50

B Computers: 10
B Printers: 50
B total: 60

You are absolutely correct(STATEMENT I AND II lead us to the same thing)

It is E) Whats the source and do u have the OA?

mp + mc = 50 i.e mp = 50-mc
np + nc = 60 i.e np = 60-nc

Stmt I

mc = nc

Could be 10mc 10nc 40mp 50np
(or) 20mc 20nc 30mp 40np

INSUFF

Stmt II

np = mp+10

Again wihtout going in to any equations

The same eg aplies

Could be 10mc 10nc 40mp 50np
(or) 20mc 20nc 30mp 40np

INSUFF

On this question it seems REALLY easy to me to fall into the 4 variable, 4 equation trap.

What is the "giveaway" in the problem that alerts you to look out for that ? The fact that Statement 1 says Cm=Cp??

Just wondering because I don't usually "CHECK" every equation fits, unless its obvious (i.e. one is a multiple of the other).... that may be a takeaway in of itself!
